Imagine a beautiful shore in the deep south of Sardinia, with all the comforts of equipped beaches, but in perfect harmony with the nature that surrounds it. Impossible to find? It’s there. We are in Cala Sinzias, in the province of Cagliari, a beautiful place where Anna and Daniele opened the Lido Tamatete a few years ago: crystal-clear sea, golden sand, straw umbrellas, Sardinian specialities and iced drinks. What made all this really unique was a very specific goal: to become a plastic-free beach. Goal achieved. At the entrance of the Lido a sign indicates that, for the sake of the environment, plastic is not welcome: there is room only for recyclable or biodegradable materials. Of course, this choice entails additional costs for the management, but they explained that they are not afraid to deal with them, given the long-term benefits for the environment: "We made this lifestyle choice: to leave a big city and come all the way here, just because it's a wonderful place. Losing all this would make no sense, it would be crazy." 

The enthusiasm of their choice seems to have been contagious: this summer more and more managers, but also municipalities and institutions, have continued the fight against plastic on the beaches.
