Sustainable Tuscany, discovering Valedra in the saddle of an e-scooter
Rural landscapes dotted with medieval villages and castles, gentle hills, clear waterways, olive trees, vineyards and old farmhouses make the Valdera a genuinely authentic and characteristic place.

A green experience, a corner of Tuscany to be discovered, riding our S3EVOlution electric scooter. Our sustainable journey begins with the choice of accommodation.

The starting point of all the stages is, in fact, the Agriturismo Alpaca Country House, a structure surrounded by alpacas, suitable for those who love nature and want to try the experience of sleeping in a Yurt, the typical dwelling of the nomadic tribes of Mongolia. Equipped with a light wooden structure supported by horsehair and leather laces, the Yurt is covered with felted sheep, yak or alpaca wool that allows you to stay warm in winter and cool in summer. In addition to being built with natural materials, it can be quickly disassembled to allow nomadic shepherds to move with their flocks.

There is also a tavern with menus based on local products prepared with traditional recipes and slow cooking on the farm.

DAY 1: LARI

The first stop on this journey on the S3 EVOlution electric scooter is Lari's medieval village, located just 30km from Pisa. Along the way, there are scenic streets surrounded by hills that reflect typical Tuscany. La Bottega di Canfreo is the recommended historical place because it offers the distinctive dish par excellence: cherry salami. Under the restaurant, there is a cave where the 3-milk cheese is matured. The cellar has a ceiling made entirely of sand, and shells can still be seen because there was once sea in that area of the Tuscan hinterland.

Cherry liqueur and homemade pasta are typical of the village of Lari, where the famous Pastificio Martelli is located. The owners of the pasta factory are very helpful and gladly tell their story, showing the stages of production of the pasta. At the centre of the village stands the Castello dei Vicari, reachable after a long staircase, from which you can admire a splendid view over the whole town and the surrounding hills.

DAY 2: PECCIOLI

Peccioli is located in the Valdera countryside, immersed in a beautiful rural landscape. An essential stop is the historic Ferretti pastry shop. Don't be fooled by the name. This place is also perfect for eating delicious dishes prepared with local organic products.

Piazza del Popolo is the centre of the village, full of bars and outdoor tables and the Verano Church. The town of Peccioli is characterized by narrow alleys, stairways and flowered balconies. We advise you to stroll through these narrow streets, following your instincts. At every corner, you will find beautiful views and evocative panoramas over the roofs of the town.

But Peccioli's visit did not end here! A few kilometres from this village, a landfill has a vital record: from the disposal of its waste, it generates precious renewable energy. Near the landfill and not far from Peccioli, you can find the statues of huge giants emerging from the earth, very nice to take a picture!

DAY 3: CAMUGLIANO AND PONTEDERA

The third day of this sustainable journey is the scenic church of San Pierino di Camugliano.

To reach it, you risk getting lost several times, but by getting lost, you can discover splendid landscapes. Rows of cypresses, hills of golden wheat dotted with hay bales, white dirt roads that wind through the woods. After grinding many kilometres, it is finally a tiny little church, surrounded by four cypresses.

The church can no longer be visited because it is located on the ground of a private property surrounded by a gate and can only be admired from a distance. The locals say that the church has been abandoned for years and that there are still some bones in its vicinity because it was initially an ancient cemetery.

Not too far from the church, in Pontedera, there is a wind farm, a perfect place for an ecological trip and the ideal way to end the day, letting yourself be guided by the wind and admiring the enchanting Tuscan landscapes at sunset.

DAY 4: SAN MINIATO E MONTECASTELLO

The last day is dedicated to visiting two beautiful villages: San Miniato and Montecastello.

San Miniato is a village located on a hill, halfway between Pisa and Florence. Famous for its leather and white truffle, it is also nicknamed "the city of truffles".

The visit starts from the Cathedral of 1200, whose discs on the facade symbolize the constellations of Ursa Major, Ursa Minor and Polar Star. You should not miss a tour of Piazza della Repubblica, a visit to the Rocca di Federico II and a jump to the numerous craft shops that produce leather or where it is possible to taste the highly prized truffle of the area.

The last stop of the day and the trip is dedicated to Montecastello, a tiny and little-known town worth visiting. Its ancient walls surround this village. It will be pleasant to walk through its alleys full of flowered balconies up to the Church of Santa Lucia, which dominates the whole town with its imposing bell tower.
